For over 32 years, the Gold Plate Dinner has been one of our city's most successful fundraising events. We have raised well over $2 million for various highly deserving charities and as hosts, we see this success as being a true reflection of the generosity of our community-minded guests and sponsors.
With a new and inspired organizing committee led by Co-Chairs Nick Pantieras and Aik Aliferis (Primecorp Commercial Realty), Honorary Chair Steve Ramphos (District Realty), Bill Kontogiannis and Tom Varvaresos (Sysco-Tannis Food Distributors), Wayne Kerrick (Gowling WLG), John Zouzoulas (Desjardins Financial), Bill Syrros (Lixar) and the Marketing Breakthroughs production team, our 2018 Gold Plate Dinner was the signature evening our community has come to expect.
Networking with Ottawa's best
This event is an opportunity to take part in an evening of passionate community building, networking and fundraising. Connect with leaders from every industry in your community, including building owners & management, financial institutions, law firms, real estate brokerage firms and local business owners.
A heartfelt thank you to those who attended, sponsored and volunteered their time for our 2018 dinner on Thursday, June 14th to support The University of Ottawa Heart Institute and The Hellenic Community of Ottawa's cultural and language programs. From our amazing networking reception to our exhilarating $30,000 elimination draw and our grand tent after-party, we had an exquisite evening.

Jazz Band Safe Low Limit
Formed in 2016, Safe Low Limit is an eclectic group that uses only bass clef pitched instruments, resulting in a sound you're unlikely to hear in any other band. They play a jazz based repertoire with original songs and a wide variety of jazz standards mixed with pop hits from many eras. Starting in 2016 playing small venues in Ottawa and Hull, the band then produced a concert in the bottom of a drained swimming pool in Vanier in May 2017. The resulting CBC interview and article of the pool concert went viral in the region! Local jazz media OttawaJazzScene also posted this great article containing live footage of the pool concert and interviews with the band.
In November 2017 Safe Low Limit produced a concert at La Nouvelle Scene and performed a live video for this article in The Ottawa Citizen, promoting the show and a new composition called "Tuba Tango".
Playing more regularly on the Ottawa music scene in 2018, Safe Low Limit was included in the Church Of The Ascension Concert Series in April 2018. Capping off the season, the band will be performing a concert in the Ottawa Jazz Festival on June 22.
“It’s how you play, not what you play.”
Ilon was introduced to DJing back in Korea when he was 13 along with creating music and recording. When he moved to Canada in 2000 at the age of 15, he took every chance to practice and get in front of an audience. Ilon played an active role in providing entertainment for charity functions and school dances and opted for whichever nightclub would give him a shot at such a young age, including Cosmos in Hull and Privilege in Ottawa.
His passion for the industry grew and naturally transitioned into opening his first nightclub, Mansion Nightclub, which has evolved into the Bourbon Room today along with a talent agency for event staffing and home to many DJs and entertainers.
His versatility is his strength and reading the crowd is his speciality. Ilon can seamlessly transition through genres and decades to keep bodies vibing on the dancefloor.
DJ The Kid Gorgeous
Ottawa-born The Kid Gorgeous entered the art of DJing and producing using CDs and Cassettes at a young age. Having his rhythm cut out with a drum kit, he traded up for a set of turntables and since, hasn’t looked back.
You can find The Kid Gorgeous at your favourite party mixing up the latest club bangers. From Top 40’s to Hip Hop, R&B, Rap, and House, The Kid Gorgeous can start and keep the party going with his feel for the crowd, his MC talents, and transitions as smooth as silk.
The Kid Gorgeous has held residencies at some of the Capital’s most iconic nightclubs and can’t be missed in the region’s local hip-hop scene. His versatility has allowed him to entertain crowds at some of Ottawa’s biggest events from the Juno Awards After Party to the Royal Bank Bluesfest.
Helping Ottawa for 32 years
With the invaluable help of the Gold Plate Dinner Committee, volunteers and staff from the Hellenic Community of Ottawa and the overwhelming generosity of our sponsors, the event has helped Ottawa's Greek community maintain its distinctly Greek heritage and culture by funding programs for language and dance. Each year, we also choose a local charity in the Ottawa region to which we donate a portion of our proceeds. This strong focus on both the needs of the Hellenic Community as well as those of the Ottawa region have contributed to our event's ongoing success.
We continuously aspire to set new goals and meet new challenges. As always, we remain dedicated to supporting the Greek community in the Ottawa area and would like to thank everyone who has helped preserve the traditions and integrity of our culture. Thank you for your support.
Stay tuned for 2019 event dates!
